Karen Sweeney

Karen Sweeney holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from Deakin University, as well as a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law. She joined Mildren Cooper McKenna in 2024 and practices in the areas of Child Protection, Criminal Law, and Intervention Orders. Karen regularly appears in the Children’s Court, Magistrates’ Court, and Koori Court.
Before commencing her legal career, Karen worked extensively as a journalist reporting on courts, crime and justice—an experience that continues to inform her strong commitment to social justice and advocacy for vulnerable clients.
Karen has lived and worked across Australia, as well as in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. She now calls Geelong home.
